Cone Beam Computed Tomography ( CBCT )

At Northwoods Dental Spa, we are proud to offer state-of-the-art Cone Beam Computed Tomography ( CBCT ) imaging for improved diagnosis and treatment of many dental problems.

When dental x-ray technology first became available over 100 years ago, it proved an invaluable diagnostic tool to medicine and dentistry. It soon became routine for dentists to use x-rays to help plan the best course of treatment for their patients. Recent advancements have brought this process a lot further.

Dental imaging took a major step forward  with a three-dimensional technology known as computed tomography (“tomo” – cut or slice; “graph” – picture).  With cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), our dentists can get amazingly detailed 3-D views of the facial skeleton and teeth.

With the CBCT, we can reduce the need for invasive procedures, shorten treatment time and offer a better outcome. It offers invaluable information when it comes to the assessment and planning for many dental procedures, especially dental implants

Guided Implant Placement

CBCT imaging allows us to offer Computer Guided Implant Placement. It is a breakthrough technology which offers benefits previously unknown in implant dentistry

We load the data from CBCT into a special planning software, place virtual implants in computer model of the jaw.

Then we transfer that exact implant position into patients mouth using the 3D ptinted stent.

Guided implant placement It is a lot more precise and accurate.  It is also significantly more conservative,  less invasive. In addition, the technique may substantially reduce the time necessary for implant surgery, improve the outcome, and make the procedure more predictable.
